Compute infrastructure for AI factories, not just chips.
NVIDIA holds the largest share of AI accelerator shipments and revenue (roughly 80% of data-center AI revenue per Q1 2026 earnings; source: NVIDIA investor relations), with custom ASICs and cloud-vendor alternatives steadily eroding that lead. Their structural advantage remains the CUDA ecosystem moat, every major training and inference framework optimizes for it first, coupled with vertical integration from chip to network to cluster software. Persistent risks: TSMC supply concentration on advanced nodes (3 nm / 2 nm), and rising competition from AMD MI-series, Google TPU v6/v7, AWS Trainium/Inferentia, and in-house chips at Meta and Microsoft.

NVIDIA is pivoting from selling chips to selling complete AI-factory solutions including networking (Spectrum-X, NVLink-Switch), software (CUDA, TensorRT, Triton, NeMo), and turnkey clusters (DGX, MGX reference platforms). They aim to own the AI infrastructure stack end-to-end, defending against custom-silicon challengers via fast iteration cadence and the developer inertia behind CUDA.
